Disability access group

Diverse Cymru’s disability access group assesses building plans for local authorities and other stakeholder groups to ensure that they develop buildings and public spaces that are fully accessible and have appropriate facilities for disabled people.

Diverse Cymru operates a vibrant and committed  Disability Access Group, working not only with local authorities (giving input and consultancy on design and builds, refurbishments and planning)  but also with other organisations and individuals within the public, private and third sectors.

A recent consultation involved advising Cardiff County Council on the car parking and disabled access for the coming Olympic events to be held at the Wales Millennium Stadium, helping them to ensure that disabled visitors to the City will leave with positive feelings. Other ongoing projects include working with all major supermarkets over the misuse of disabled parking bays and accessibility for disabled customers in banks and building societies.
