It has been another strong year at Diverse Cymru. Our annual report provides a summary of the work that has been carried out over the last 12 months as an organisation.
Covid-19 government restrictions resulted in Diverse Cymru delivering a crisis response with local authority partners for Direct Payment beneficiaries when a surge in demand was experienced from vulnerable people. Covid-19 also led to a rise in advocacy referrals.
Research, training and engagement events draw on Diverse Cymru’s expertise within the equalities agenda. Careful stewardship of the charity’s finances has resulted in a year end profit for 2020-21.
Gaining the Advocacy Quality Performance Kite Mark was a particular highlight as a sign of the high quality of Diverse Cymru’s advocacy service.
The year has also seen the charity raise its profile at a policy level. Diverse Cymru’s Good Practice Certification Scheme appears in Welsh Government’s Together for Mental Health Delivery Plan 2020-2022, and the First Minister included the Certification Scheme in the BAME Covid-19 Advisory Group Report.
Despite a challenging working environment, the staff have worked hard to respond to the increased demand for Diverse Cymru’s services.
