Our Direct Payments Team has taken work placements from Health & Social Care students over the years, but recently we have developed a link with Volda University College, Norway.
After a successful pilot placement last year, we have accepted two students to join the team until December.
We believe this is a fantastic opportunity to learn from each other, as the students gain valuable practical skills, we can gain perspective on social care work from Europe. We have always looked for collaborative working opportunities and when we received a call from a Norwegian university, we were very keen to get involved.
Last year’s student Håkon enjoying a trip to St Fagan’s National History Museum.
We’re delighted to accept Ingvill and Sigrid to the team where they will work as Direct Payments Support Workers for three months. They will play a full role in the team as much as possible allowing for their university work which they will have to continue whilst in post.
Last year’s student Håkon had this to say about his time working for us:
I have had a great time here in Cardiff (a wonderful city), and I’ve really enjoyed working at Diverse Cymru.
I have made some good friends over here and learned a lot about myself.
We look forward to supporting Ingvill and Sigrid through their training as Support Workers, as well as teaching them about Wales’ culture, history and food!
