We’re Recruiting – Chief Executive Officer

Diverse Cymru are looking for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who will be able to lead the organisation effectively and grow the charity.  To do this we need an exceptional candidate who is committed to furthering equality in Wales, has a passion for leadership and understands how to get the best out of others.  Having the right experience to take on this role is important, but so is your commitment, drive and inclusive personal leadership.

At Diverse Cymru we believe that leadership comes in different forms and effective leaders don’t all look the same.  Whilst we have set out below the criteria that we will use in selecting candidates, we recognise that there are a wide range of ways in which you may meet them beyond traditional work experience.  If you believe you have what it takes to thrive in this role, we want to hear from you.

What can we offer you?

As Chief Executive Officer (CEO) you will have a platform to provide outstanding leadership to the organisation and beyond, with an opportunity to put your networking and communication skills to good use as having both an inward and outward focus.

Part of your role will be to act as an ambassador for Diverse Cymru, promoting and representing it at local, regional, and national level, also managing senior stakeholder relationships in local and national government, the wider public sector, and with other equalities bodies and businesses.

Salary:                         £40,000 per annum;

Working Hours:           37.5 hours per week (flexitime policy operates)

Leave:                         28 days annual leave plus public holidays.

What we ask of you:

As the CEO you will be a passionate, visible leader for the organisation, inspiring the team, and setting direction.  You will be accountable for the overall leadership and development of Diverse Cymru, driving forward a clear vision for growing the organisation as a leading equalities charity in Wales.

You will be committed to driving growth and expanding the reach and impact of the charity, building Diverse Cymru’s reputation as an expert, trusted organisation and Wales’s leading equalities charity.

You will bring a strong track record in relation to senior and financial management, developing and delivering strategies for growth, building relationships / partnerships, with a strong commitment to and understanding of the equalities agenda in Wales.

You will work with the Board and leadership team to drive the delivery of an ambitious strategy for impact and growth, and manage the long-term sustainability of Diverse Cymru through good governance, sound financial management, the development of a positive, inclusive culture and delivery of high-quality services, ensuring the Board are able to carry out their duties effectively and have the information to make informed decisions.

Who we are:

Diverse Cymru is a Welsh charity based in Cardiff, founded in 2011 through a merger between Cardiff and Vale Coalition of Disabled People and Awetu in recognition of the difficulties and discrimination faced by people experiencing inequality in Wales.

We are committed to supporting people faced with inequality and discrimination because of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation, and we look to empower people and effect change through a range of measures / activities.

Our vision is to help create a nation without prejudice or discrimination, where every person is equal and diversity is celebrated, and our mission is to eliminate discrimination and inequality.
